IOMAXIS is seeking a Computer Security Systems Specialist IV - CHAC to support client operations at the Naval Research Laboratory on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, DC. This is a full-time position contingent upon award anticipated in September 2017.




Required to perform rigorous static and dynamic analysis of digital intrusion artifacts of unknown origin. Which, includes but is not limited to programmatically detecting, analyzing, and defeating modern software compression, encryption, and packing algorithms applied to file contents. The candidate shall utilize in-house and commercially available network security tools and software applications for network and file system forensics, and shall utilize computer and network security concepts, including the analysis of malicious software and evidence related to incidents of computer or network compromise. Responsible for testing and documenting the traits of artifacts under investigation including startup behavior, runtime behavior, permanence, communication protocols, command set, packing, obfuscation, and encryption.


Additionally, required to perform reverse engineering of analysis of legacy warfighting systems. Which includes, but is not limited to, the analysis of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS), Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS), and Free-and-Open-Source Software (FOSS) distributed as either binary code or source code for latent vulnerabilities. Shall also include developing methods for automatically detecting and assessing vulnerabilities in COTS, GOTS, and FOSS, as well as identifying mechanisms for protection against leakage, tampering, destruction, deception, delay, and other threats to the information/data information technology, and its supporting infrastructure. The work is on site at NRL with some travel to off-site locations.





  • High School Diploma/GED, plus 30 years of relevant experience
  • Associates Degree, plus 25 years of relevant experience

  • Bachelors Degree, plus 20 years of relevant experience

  • Masters Degree, plus 15 years of relevant experience

  • PhD, plus 10 years of relevant experience




  • Active TS/SCI Clerance required

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience using commercial and open source tools to reverse engineer, perform static and dynamic analysis of IT hardware and software to detect and recognize malicious code or activity
  • Experience in research, design, development, integration, testing and installation of high- assurance systems hardware, software and diagnostics equipment
  • Experience in one or more of the following development languages; C, C++, Java, Python, Linux Scripting, PowerShell, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, PHP, CSS, VBS, SQL or Assembly
  • Experience with techniques for securing mobile and ad hoc wireless networks
  • Experience in the integration, testing and analysis of operational network intrusion detection systems and firewalls


Desired Skills and Experience:


  • Experience performing penetration testing to assess vulnerabilities and overall threat profile of IT systems and services
  • Experience in two or more of the following development languages; C, C++, Java, Python, Linux Scripting, PowerShell, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, PHP, CSS, VBS, SQL or Assembly
  • Experience in understanding the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) high-assurance computer systems and network environments
  • Experience in the investigation and development of new types of security protocols and algorithms and their analysis for security and performance of high assurance hardware and software
  • Experience in investigation and development of unique wireless systems related to new communications capabilities and mobile systems security
